Cali Cream started in Encinitas in 2016 after owners Ken and Juliana left corporate jobs to open a homemade ice cream shop, taking over a space that had been a Handel's Homemade franchise. The shop makes its own ice cream without high-fructose corn syrup and rotates through 50 to 70 flavors a day, including dairy-free and vegan options, under a self-described "seven days from cow to cone" turnaround. Seating is at outdoor tables along Coast Highway 101, with counter service and ice cream cakes to order.
