Fourteen seats wrap the counter at Omakase Room by Maaser, where chefs Peter and Aaron have run an Edomae-style tasting menu since the restaurant opened on Bleecker Street in 2019. The shorter tasting runs twelve pieces, the longer one seventeen, and both draw on fish flown in from Japan dressed with small twists like truffle, saffron, caviar or charcoal salt. There's a deep list of rare Japanese sake to go with it, and outside bottles aren't allowed. The room stays quiet and small, better suited to focusing on the food than conversation over drinks.
