On our list of the best wine bars in San Diego.
A hole cut through the wall of a hairdresser's old storefront in the East Village gave certified sommelier Justus Benjamin the room for what he calls a cheese shop with benefits, borrowing the wine-and-charcuterie habit of Barcelona bars for a space that used to hold Dirty Dels. A tiled feature wall backs a 12-seat communal table built for sharing a board rather than sitting alone with one. The wine list favors smaller estates and leans toward female, natural, and minority-owned labels, sold by the glass, bottle, or half bottle so a couple isn't stuck finishing what they started.
