About this spot
On our lists of the best romantic restaurants and wine bars in San Diego.
Gary Parker built San Diego County's first commercial wine-storage facility out of the 926 Restaurant in Pacific Beach in 1984, then repeated the formula (a wine shop, temperature-controlled lockers, and a kitchen) to open The WineSellar & Brasserie with his wife Lori in 1988. The 2,500-bottle list won a Wine Spectator Grand Award its first year and has kept the honor every year since. The dining room sits upstairs from the wine shop, so a visit tends to start with browsing the shelves before heading up for dishes like escargot in garlic butter or rack of lamb in rosemary demi-glace. Reservations are encouraged.
