Laurie Wagner and Ian Vaux, who grow the grapes for their bottles on a nearly 10-acre vineyard in Ramona, opened this tasting room in a nostalgic building right on the coast in La Jolla in 2025. Their grape-growing license only covers what they make upstate, so the pours are wine only, with no kitchen, built around Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, plus handcrafted sangrias. The name comes from a rock formation shaped like a tortoise head that watches over their Ramona vineyard, and the bar keeps its doors open on Prospect Street seven days a week.
