Whaley House Museum

Thomas Whaley began building this Greek Revival and Italianate house in Old Town in 1856, on a lot rumored to be the site of the gallows where the thief Yankee Jim Robinson was hanged. The two-story brick house later worked as San Diego's first commercial theater, the county courthouse and a general store before returning to a private home, and it's since been billed as America's Most Haunted House, with visitors and staff reporting footsteps, disembodied voices and apparitions. Historic Tours of America maintains it today, offering self-guided daytime visits alongside guided evening tours and after-hours paranormal investigations.
