Under the Riverside Drive Viaduct at 125th Street, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que opened its first New York City outpost in 2004, a few blocks from Columbia University. The Rochester-founded chain built its name on slow-smoked meats, and the sandwiches carry it here: pulled pork piled with house sauce, a Memphis version stacked with tangy coleslaw, a Cuban loaded with ham, swiss and horseradish mustard. The room keeps the upstate roadhouse feel, loud and casual, with servers who move fast between tables. Reservations can be made online, useful on weekend nights when the wait at the door runs long.
