Black Mountain Wine House

A residential block in Carroll Gardens has held this cabin-in-the-mountains wine bar since 2007: log detailing and Adirondack chairs outside, a wood-burning stone fireplace and low light within. The wine list runs deep by the glass, useful for someone still deciding what they like, and the kitchen keeps to cheese, charcuterie and small plates like a tuna niçoise salad or a goat cheese tart with roasted beets and balsamic. It's walk-ins only, no reservations, so finding a spot by the fire means showing up and waiting for one.
