Sushi Sasabune

Hiroki Totsuka took over this Wilshire Boulevard storefront in 2019, continuing an approach he learned there since 2003, with no interior design to speak of beyond a sushi bar that's the only place worth sitting. There are no specialty rolls and no menu to order from: a meal starts with sashimi, runs through eight or so courses of warm-rice nigiri, and ends with a crab hand roll. The original Sasabune opened on Sawtelle in 1993 as one of the first places in Los Angeles to serve true omakase.
