A small unmarked white brick building in Chinatown's warehouse district, close enough to the L.A. River to watch a Metro train go by, holds the West Coast branch of Christopher Tierney's New York apothecary bar. The cocktail list is sorted into pain killers, stimulants, aphrodisiacs and stress relievers, poured under sconces made from boiling flasks that hold glowing herbal tinctures. Out back a marble horseshoe bar serves the same menu on the patio, where DJs play on weekends.
