The Del Monte Speakeasy

Upstairs, the bar dates to 1915, when Caesar Menotti ran a grocery store as cover for a basement speakeasy called Menotti's Buffet; a trapdoor and a hand-cranked dumbwaiter once carried drinkers down, replaced by a staircase in 1968. Current owners restored the basement in 2007 into a Prohibition-styled room called Del Monte Speakeasy, with live music and performances most nights. Both floors pour classic cocktails, including a Moscow Mule made with homemade ginger ale.
