The Mint

Red velvet curtains, a disco ball, and Johnny Cash paintings fill The Mint, a room on Pico Boulevard that has run continuously as a music venue since 1937 and was built to double as a recording studio, giving it an acoustically tuned sound. Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Herbie Hancock played there on their way up, and more recent sets have come from Ben Harper, Jackson Browne, and Bonnie Raitt. Dinner reservations still run alongside its nightly show calendar.
