West of the 110 Freeway, a 45,000-square-foot building that once held nightclubs, including Prince's short-lived Grand Slam in the 1990s, reopened as The Bellwether. Michael Swier of Teragram Presents and Gregg Perloff of Another Planet Entertainment built the main room around a parquet dance floor and a 270-degree wraparound balcony, with a capacity near 1,500. Pizza by the slice and specialty cocktails come from The Virginian, the restaurant built into the venue, served starting an hour before doors; the room has booked Carly Rae Jepsen, HAIM and Wilco.
