About this spot
On our lists of the best speakeasies and cocktail bars in San Diego.
A Dungeons & Dragons-inspired placemat map, drawn for Kindred's 2017 Coachella pop-up, imagined a secret chamber beneath the South Park restaurant; nine years later BASILE Studio and plaster artist Sasha Seyb built it for real. Guests reach the 35-seat room through a chain-mail curtain, into a space of gilded arches, water features, and carved ice served in handmade local ceramics. The menu runs to twelve cocktails and six nonalcoholic elixirs alongside tea, wine, and ale, paired with a mezze list built around whipped fava bean dip and cave-aged cashew brie. Reservations hold the table for 90 minutes.
