Garibaldi

An entrance at the InterContinental on the Bayfront had guests whisper a password into a diving helmet in the hotel lobby before being led up to the rooftop, when Garibaldi opened in 2020 as an Italian-inspired speakeasy. The kitchen now works Sardinian recipes filtered through Southern California under Chef Ricardo Heredia: fregola all'onda with saffron and baby zucchini, braised lamb with artichokes and polenta, and a Pane Carasau flatbread topped with sheep's milk ricotta and bottarga. Cocktails run to aged Negronis and Aperol spritzes, served on a terrace that looks out over San Diego Bay.
