Bar 1924

A cocktail bar on Lytton Street in Point Loma opened in 1924 as The 19th Hole, a stop for golfers on the course now buried under Liberty Station. A storm once tore the "19" off the sign, leaving The Hole — the name that stuck for decades while the bar became one of San Diego's earliest openly gay bars. It rebranded to Bar 1924 in 2026, keeping the same address, ownership and liquor license. Drinks are spirit-forward and built from fresh-cut citrus and house-made syrups, poured in a low-lit room with vinyl playing, a pool table, and a patio strung with lights.
