What opened in 1954 as Johnny's Beer Bar, run by an Army veteran and his brother, is now The Leucadian Bar, its interior still hung with the original owners' nautical decor after a repaint in Padres colors. Pool tables, darts, shuffleboard and arcade machines fill the retro front room, and a newer back patio adds fire-pit heaters and barbecue from Smoke & Salt, with dishes like pork belly and smoked brisket. The renovation brightened the space and reworked the women's restroom, and the bar now draws a mix of twenty-somethings and longtime regulars.
