The Spot La Jolla

The building at 1005 Prospect Street has held a restaurant since 1900, when it operated as The White Rabbit selling cigars, soda, and ice cream; a later stint as The Village Cupboard ended in 1976, when owner Jerry Herman renamed it after a neighborhood eatery he'd frequented in Evanston, Illinois. Thin and deep-dish Chicago-style pizza, pasta, steaks, and a burger list built around customizable toppings still anchor the kitchen's classic American menu, served at a full bar that runs the length of the dining room.
