About this spot
The Spanish-style building on Camino Del Mar dates to 1930, built as an office before it became a tea room and then La Tienda, a Mexican restaurant run by a La Jolla restaurateur. John Wingate bought La Tienda in 1995 and renamed it En Fuego Cantina & Grill, keeping the Mexican menu of street tacos, fajitas and house-made guacamole. Patio seating wraps two levels around an outdoor grotto-style bar, with live music some nights.
