The rooftop at the Hyatt Herald Square opens seasonally, with a south-facing terrace that puts the Empire State Building close enough to feel like it's a couple of blocks away. Food arrives from a kitchen a floor below, so a plate meant to be hot can turn up merely warm. The bar leans on infused vodkas and small, shareable plates built for standing around with a drink rather than sitting down to a full meal.
