At the corner of Washington and Bethune, Malaparte keeps its front wall open to outdoor seating on mild nights, with exposed brick, wood floors and pours of red wine that run generous. The kitchen turns out chewy, hot pasta closer to what you'd find in Italy than a New York take on it, alongside dishes like seared tuna and a mushroom pizza. Bread comes to the table with olive oil at no extra charge, before anything else is ordered. Sundays split into a midday seating from noon to 3:30pm and a dinner seating that starts back up at 5:30.
