Lalo Rodriguez, who cooked at Cosme, and Karina Garcia, formerly of Eleven Madison Park, started this restaurant during the pandemic selling birria out of their apartment before it grew into a supper club built on tasting menus from Rodriguez's grandmother's recipes. This Upper West Side location, their second after Hamilton Heights, took over a space Malaysia Grill had held for about twenty years. A mole negro with confit duck leg and a bone marrow birria with braised beef anchor the kitchen, and weekend brunch centers on a masa pancake with seasonal fruit compote.
