Jackey Sun, whose Flushing restaurant Hunan House earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2016, took over Shun Lee Cafe's old space near East 82nd Street to open this one. The menu reworks Chinese standards into something plusher: Kung Pao chicken sits next to beef ribs in red wine sauce with pumpkin cream, and a Beijing chicken comes glazed with walnuts and sweet bean sauce. A private dining room upstairs handles bigger groups. Happy hour runs weekday afternoons, well before the dinner rush fills the main room.
