Family-run since Amalia opened it on Ninth Avenue in the 1980s, this Hell's Kitchen restaurant still packs a dining room under disco balls, regulars call it one of the liveliest in the neighborhood, especially on Mondays when Broadway goes dark and off-duty theater staff fill the tables. The kitchen keeps to Tex-Mex staples: chimichangas, enchiladas suizas, tacos and empanadas. Margaritas come in four sizes named for the owner's family, from a 12-ounce El Papa up to a 32-ounce La Abuela.
