Museum of Sex

Housed at Fifth Avenue and 27th Street since opening in 2002, this museum was founded by entrepreneur Daniel Gluck as an institution built around the history of sexuality rather than shock value alone. A 2009 renovation moved the entrance onto Fifth Avenue and added a floor plus a second gallery. The permanent collection runs alongside rotating shows, current ones including "The Life Force" and "Artifact XXX," and a ground-floor bar called Carnal Carnival. Entry is restricted to visitors 18 and up, with last tickets sold two hours before closing.
