Maki Kosaka

This hand-roll spot is the casual offshoot of Kosaka, the Michelin-starred omakase counter around the corner, and keeps the same minimalist plating without the tasting-menu format. The makimono set arrives on one platter: two pieces of toro and scallop onigiri, thick futomaki rolls packed with pickled vegetables, and a round of nigiri meant to be scooped up with crisp sheets of nori. It's open for dinner nightly and adds lunch on weekends, with a few tables outside on 19th Street.
