Hawksmoor's New York outpost took over the restored Assembly Hall inside the landmarked United Charities Building, where 30-foot vaulted ceilings and the original crown molding still do the talking. The British import char-grills its dry-aged steaks over charcoal, with the rump steak the reliable order and the filet mignon the one to trust, alongside sides like potted beef with bacon and Old Spot pork belly. Sticky toffee pudding draws people back on its own, ordered at the bar with just a drink rather than a full dinner.
