Bitter Monk

Ektoras Binikos and Simon Jutras, who also run Sugar Monk uptown in Harlem, built this Industry City tasting room around Atheras Spirits, their own line of amari and herbal liqueurs made partly from foraged herbs and roots. A stained-glass window marked with the philosopher's stone gives the small room an almost churchlike feel, and cocktails are built to showcase the house spirits rather than call on outside brands. Chicken empanadas, hummus and dumplings cover the food side, and seating is first-come, first-served with no reservations taken.
