Bad Habits

Murals by the artist Andrew Thiele cover nearly every wall at Bad Habits, the Latin sushi restaurant Alex Roldan and DJ Camilo opened on Broadway in Astoria in 2021, part of the Blend Group's roster of neighborhood spots. The kitchen fuses Dominican cooking with sushi rolls, among them the Nueva Yol: shrimp tempura, cream cheese, fried plantain, crab, and avocado under a sriracha aioli. Specific scenes range from a kings-and-queens tableau to a love-themed panel and a two-panel gunfight sequence. Weekends bring a DJ and a dance floor, brunch runs Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and the dress code rules out baggy jeans and athletic wear after dark.
