A Bushwick techno room since 2012, Bossa Nova Civic Club is decorated in palm trees and beach kitsch despite a sound system built for serious house and techno DJs. The space measures under 2,000 square feet, with a smoke machine and strobes timed to the beat. DJs mix back-to-back sets through the night, and the crowd treats the bar, the dance floor, and the coat-check line as one continuous room. A cover applies most nights, waived for anyone in line before it grows long.
