Massimo Laveglia, a Florence-born pizzaiolo with no pizza experience, took over a 250-square-foot Williamsburg storefront in 2017 and started making thin-crust New York slices with Bianco di Napoli tomatoes and a blend of Italian and Hudson Valley flour. The West Village outpost, opened in 2023 on Christopher Street, trades the original's sidewalk-stoop scene for a room with dark wood paneling, a pressed-tin ceiling and exposed brick hung with Italian ephemera: tomato cans, Ferrari ads, Godfather posters. Burrata and spicy salami top the standout slices, meant to be washed down with a glass of natural wine rather than a soda. Seats are limited, so a crowd tends to eat standing or carries pizza out to a nearby park.
