A mother-daughter team from Osaka opened Hanamizuki on West 29th Street in 2012, closed during the pandemic, and reopened in the same space in 2024. Onigiri are made to order here, seaweed wrapped fresh around warm rice around fillings like salmon, mentaiko or curry corn. A combo plate brings two of them to the table with miso soup and a rotating side, tamagoyaki or a sesame-dressed goma-ae most days. It runs as a cafe rather than a sit-down restaurant, built around that short onigiri menu.
