Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli opened Frankies 457 in Carroll Gardens in 2004, serving cavatelli and meatballs, a Caesar salad and sliced ribeye that helped make crostini a fixture on New York menus. The Village Voice later named it one of Brooklyn's fourteen essential Italian restaurants, and the two chefs were James Beard semifinalists for Outstanding Restaurateur in 2015. A garden out back, roughly the size of the two dining rooms combined, is where the restaurant seats groups for anniversaries and birthdays.
