Shellback Tavern

The front booths look straight at the pier, volleyball players come in off the sand, and the candy-colored trucker hats sold at the bar, printed with that pier, have turned up on Mark Cuban. Bob Beverly shot pool here on breaks from his paper route in the 1970s and has owned it since the early 2000s. The building dates to 1922, when it opened as Bach's Cafe & Bakery; the bar has since been the Knothole and the Surf, among other names.
