Sawdust covers the floor and surfboards hang from the ceiling at this bar Joseph Larson opened in 1962, naming it after a Tahitian beer he discovered while working as an extra on Mutiny on the Bounty. Jim Morrison drank here and carved his initials into the wood paneling; the same flattop grill, older than the bar itself, still turns out the cheeseburgers. Pool tables sit behind the central bar, live music plays Friday through Sunday, and there's a daily happy hour from 4 to 8pm. No liquor, just beer in frosted mugs or towering pitchers, and wine.
