Five acres of UCLA's north campus hold more than 70 sculptures, dedicated in 1967 under chancellor Franklin Murphy and laid out by landscape architect Ralph Cornell as a work of art in its own right. A brick plaza and a row of coral trees mark the formal edge, while curving pathways cut through a sloping lawn where pieces by Rodin, Henry Moore and Alexander Calder sit in curved concrete seating nooks. A bridge connects the garden directly to the central campus, and the Hammer Museum maintains the collection.
