Hollyhock House

Frank Lloyd Wright designed this hilltop house for oil heiress Aline Barnsdall, built between 1919 and 1921 and named for the hollyhock, her favorite flower. Restored down to its recreated paint colors and molding by 2014, it became the first modern-architecture site in the country to join the UNESCO World Heritage List, inscribed in 2019 alongside seven other Wright buildings. Self-guided visits run Thursday through Saturday with docents on hand, an exterior tour introducing the site's history runs Fridays and Saturdays, and a full interior tour is offered Sundays only. Advance tickets are recommended over walking in.
