Anderson Clark and Brian Douglass, both formerly of the Hillstone Restaurant Group, run this Fifth Avenue restaurant and bar, built around scratch-made American food with a nostalgic bent: gourmet cheeseburgers, flat-iron steak, Nashville hot chicken. San Diego Magazine keeps circling back to the crispy chicken sandwich, fried and topped with herbed buttermilk slaw, melted muenster, bacon and tomato under Nashville hot or comeback sauce. Reservations are offered for parties of six or more; smaller groups go on a waitlist.
