The Brunetto family opened Mona Lisa's Little Italy restaurant and attached deli in 1973, after years spent importing Italian provisions wholesale to San Diego's tuna fleet and other local restaurants. Domenico Brunetto, one of the owners, helped start the Little Italy Association in the early 1990s. Cured meats, cheeses, house-made sausage and fresh pasta fill the deli side, while the restaurant serves pizza, antipasti and seafood under the same roof.
