Cormorant Boutique Hotel

Reached through an alley off Prospect Street and up to the roof of the 26-room Cormorant hotel, Birdseye looks out over La Jolla Cove and Shores from a space redone with art deco lighting, geometric wallpaper and pop-art murals from local artist Vango. Chef Luciano Scagliarini's kitchen turns out shrimp fra diavolo and a breaded chicken Milanesa sandwich with chimichurri, alongside cocktails like a mint-cucumber Spa Day and a rum-and-pandan Diving Bird. Oceanic Enterprises, the San Diego company behind the hotel below it, backed the renovation.
