An orthodontist by training, Spiro Chaconas opened this Greek restaurant at Coronado's Ferry Landing on April 1, 1997, in a space that had been a Mrs. Fields cookie shop. His wife Nancy learned the recipes (tzatziki, hummus, soups) from his mother and his original business partner's mother, and the kitchen still grades its own gyro meat, offering a chicken version found in few other California restaurants. A 2016 remodel replaced a dark, cramped dining room with an open one and gave the kitchen a pass-through window straight to the servers.
