Hillcrest Farmers Market

Roughly 175 stalls now line University Avenue between Herbert Street and Park Boulevard, spilling onto Center Street, after the market moved from its longtime home on Normal Street, which is being rebuilt into a permanent promenade. It started in 1997 with 27 vendors and has grown into what its organizers call San Diego's largest. Vendors sell produce grown without pesticides alongside meat, seafood, dairy, flowers, clothing and crafts, and prepared food leans international. Live music from local musicians runs through the Sunday morning crowd.
