Tavola Nostra took over the nearly 2,200-square-foot space that last held Maestoso inside The Hub in Hillcrest, opened in 2020 by Jeff Oliveri, a first-time restaurateur whose family ran pizza, pasta and deli spots around San Diego in the 1970s and 80s. Oliveri trained in Rome to become a certified pinsa romana chef, and the kitchen's slow-rise, high-hydration dough produces the airy, crisp-crusted pinsas that anchor the menu alongside dishes like gnocchi with short rib ragu.
