This Del Mar Plaza outpost of the Italian chain Il Fornaio, founded as a Milan baking school in 1972 before Larry Mindel turned it into a restaurant group in 1986, runs an open-air deck with Pacific views next to an Enoteca wine bar for appetizers and drinks. House-baked bread and wood-fired pizzas like the prosciutto-and-truffle-oil Pizza Christina anchor the kitchen, alongside butternut squash ravioli and rotisserie chicken.
