Mercado Del Barrio

Under the Coronado Bridge in Barrio Logan, Mercado del Barrio redeveloped a former junkyard and toxic-waste site into a mixed-use plaza anchored by the Northgate Gonzalez Market, opening in December 2012 after 21 years in planning. Street-level retail and restaurants ring the market, among them Attitude Brewing, Mariscos El Pulpo, Oi Asian Fusion and Tocumbo Ice Cream & Tortas, with apartments built above. A community plaza with a stage and a splash fountain sits alongside the shops.
