Mike and Barb Morton, inspired by nights spent at the Chart House on Shelter Island, opened the first Brigantine in Point Loma in 1969, then leased the Orange Avenue space that still houses the Coronado location in 1973. Their son, Mike Morton Jr., now runs the family company, which remodeled this restaurant about five years ago. Seafood and a raw bar anchor the kitchen, with separate lunch, dinner, brunch, oyster bar, and happy hour service across the week.
