On a stretch of Orange Avenue that once held Bula's Pub, a popular haunt from restaurateur Steve Lindsey, brothers Ron and Rick Chapman, whose family has been in Coronado for more than a century, opened Coronado Brewing Company in August 1996. The brewpub tripled its brewhouse capacity in 2006 by taking over the building next door and installing a dozen 20-barrel fermenting tanks, and its dining room has expanded twice since. A hand-painted mermaid logo covers the building's facade, redone over several days by local artist Aaron Quinones.
