North Park's 30th Street corridor holds this Spain- and Portugal-inspired seafood spot from Chelsea Coleman and Rae Gurne, the team behind The Rose wine bar and Secret Sister bakery next door. Diners sit elbow to elbow at snug tables along a curved bar and an open kitchen, working through raw bar plates, house-smoked mackerel with pickled guindilla peppers, and a paella of local wild shrimp over crisp-bottomed bomba rice. Dishes arrive on custom ceramics made by The Wheel in Encinitas, and the bar pours gin and tonics and pet-nat alongside the small plates. Paw prints in the entryway floor and a small shrine in the bathroom nod to the dog the restaurant is named for.
