Chef Brian Malarkey opened Herb & Wood in Little Italy sharing a wall with Juniper & Ivy, splitting the 230-seat room into four areas that include a patio built around a double-sided fireplace. Designer Chris Puffer skipped reclaimed wood and Edison bulbs for something closer, in his words, to gay Paris meeting New York with a touch of Willy Wonka. The kitchen runs everything through a wood oven, a Meyer lemon and herb stuffed branzino wrapped in prosciutto among the dishes, with its own dry-aged meat program and pizza dough and pastries made in-house every day.
