Little Island

The park sits on 132 concrete piers rising 15 to 62 feet above the Hudson, an undulating shape by Heatherwick Studio and Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architects meant to read like a leaf floating on the water. Barry Diller and the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation backed the project, which opened in the spring of 2021 in place of the storm-damaged Pier 54. Ticketed performances run in the park's amphitheater alongside its four free landscaped corners of rolling hills and walking paths.
